Saehan Grain (CEO Alvin Lee), a food manufacturer based in Gyeongnam, Korea, is sponsoring the 7th Beautiful Hapcheon Independent Film Festival with its own products. The festival takes place October 16–18 at Hapcheon Image Theme Park and Hapcheon Cinema.

The Beautiful Hapcheon Independent Film Festival is a regional film culture festival based in Hapcheon that introduces independent and art-house films and brings filmmakers and audiences together. Under this year’s slogan, “Made in Hapcheon,” the festival is focused on expanding Hapcheon from a place where films are simply screened into a creative space where films are actually made.

In the Film Challenge, the festival’s signature program, participants stay in Hapcheon and make their own short films. This year a record 56 teams applied, reflecting growing interest in the filmmaking program set in Hapcheon.

For this year’s festival, Saehan Grain is sponsoring three flavors of Ocho Ball, its signature grain snack, along with its Oranda product line. The sponsored products will be made available during the festival so that creators, staff, and audiences can come across them naturally on site.

The sponsorship is meaningful in that a food manufacturer based in Gyeongnam is taking part in a regional cultural event with its own products. There is also common ground between the two: a festival where films are made in Hapcheon itself and Saehan Grain, which develops and produces its products locally, are each creating new content and products in the region in their own way.

Because the festival brings together not only screenings but also shooting, production, and meetings with audiences, Saehan Grain sees the meaning of its sponsorship less in simple product exposure than in being part of the time creators and audiences spend at the festival.

“We find it meaningful to be able to take part, with the products we make, in the films created in this region and in the work of the people who make them,” said Alvin Lee, CEO of Saehan Grain. “We hope to keep participating, in the ways our company can, wherever the region’s culture and people come together.”

Going forward, Saehan Grain plans to keep taking part in activities that connect the local community with cultural events, drawing on its products and its character as a manufacturer.
